![]() What would be worse than a changed player character would be multiple player characters and forcing player to play them all throughout the course of a game. For a twist, the sequel could feature more important, more powerful factions from a distant part of the world. ELEX itself only takes places in a rural area with a bit of tourism/industry. ELEX II features the multi-story buildings that were part of ELEX's prologue video. ![]() It isn't clear how large the planet is ("a civilization of millions" according to the intro) and, for matters of abstraction, how much of it has been destroyed. No ties to Edan, Abessa and so on, perhaps not even a well-established trade routes, but just a very few individuals that have relocated that far. Or taking place in another similarly isolated part of the world, beyond the mountains - the destination The Claws talk about. Theoretically, ELEX II could be about a story without Jax as player character, happening many more than a few years later. But changing now would be f*ed up.That's different from a generalized "stop buying their games", which is plural and therefore ambiguous. Originally posted by Dwelfusius:I mean, idgaf for a new series. I don't like it, it makes kinda seasick. But just expecting them to have a 3p camera option WITHOUT it impacting the budget for anything else is not realistic. So it's FPC or no game.Just as it's jax or no elex Like Vampire bloodlines is doing with FPC. Obvi all of it would be nice, but sometimes you just gotta say this is the budget, this is what we want, and thats it. Ofc you can only do it cosmetic and have it Zero impact on the game, but that is a) lame and b) nearly impossible, since every dialogue would containing gendered pronouns would need to have two versions And since they are not a big studio, i prefer a good story with fewer branches needed due to picking a specific prebuilt guy/girl than trying to please woke people and losing mony for dialogue/gameplay/graphics to accomodation for choosable race/gender/.'s Sometimes I think people are so used to RPG being used as a catchall for any game with progression and inventory management, that they don't realize that this is what decisions like this do.Force us to roleplay as this specific character. The moment they change the protagonist into a female is the moment I stop buying their games. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider series), Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher series), Henry (Kingdom Come:Deliverance) just to mention three - and it's not limited to a single genre. Role-players don't need to be male to enjoy that.ītw, there are various ARPGs with predefined player characters. The two romance options don't add any value other than a bit of humor when you court Caja and Nasty at the same time. If Jax were female, male NPCs would not act differently. Why would a role-player be affected by the player character's gender? Sexual content is almost non-existing in this game for age rating reasons, and the game doesn't implement reaction adjustment depending on player character's sex. Sometimes it's just because some player feels like he doesn't enjoy watching a male character's rear end all the time in a game with 3rd person perspective.īut more importantly, it's a game with role-playing elements. (honestly would have preferred they didn't, I mean the setting was possibly like #1 sell point which would have allowed multi gender easily, but on top of that they even forcing canon for first game, but w/e could be good game still).īecause of #2, even a gal (/someone who finds gals more immersive) playing would be less immersed. Nah just them wanting to continue story as earlier post pointed out. Though technically that becoming more and more we are not fans, we don't care ie Kotor remake woman (but that a whole different thing). Originally posted by Mordlust:1 Even though I played and enjoyed Gothic, Risen and Elex (1)Ģ If no, why are they never doing it? Because of voice actors? Budget?ģ Ain't tryna hate, I love their rpg's since childhood no matter what just would be cool to have female pc's as an optionĤ for the ones who can better immerse themselves then :PĪre typically things you should not bother to say (just fyi), make mistake myself also, but usually saying those especially together in a Op, is like all the modern day makers we get saying "We are fans and gamers (or w/e), but had to change something" ->
